This module introduces peer mediation as a practical and ethical way to help resolve conflicts through dialogue, understanding, and shared responsibility. Building on earlier modules about mediation, dialogue, emotions, and conflict, you will learn how peer mediators support others in school and youth settings.
You will explore the role of the peer mediator, including neutrality, confidentiality, and voluntary participation. You will also learn the steps of the peer mediation process and practise key skills such as active listening, clarification, negotiation, and reframing.
The module also explains an important limit: not every conflict is suitable for peer mediation. By the end, you will better understand when peer mediation can help and how to use these skills more confidently in real-life and online situations.
